On Saturday we visited Middle Cove Beach only to discover there were schools of capelin swimming near the beach. Kids and adults alike were in the water catching them in their hands. I have never known capelin to come ashore this late in the year.
I took in the 31st St. John's Folk Arts Festival on Saturday. Everyone heard some great music, others just relaxed and the afternoon event ended with an old fashion square dance which everyone participated in, including young and old.
The 170th official running of the Royal St. John's Regatta went ahead today under cloudy skies. However, it was ideal for boat racing. A new men's record was set!
